- Hot Water Extraction (Steam Cleaning): HWE involves the use of specialized equipment that sprays heated water (cleaning chemicals are sometimes added) into the carpet. As the hot water is sprayed in, it is also vacuumed up - along with the dirt and other residues in the carpet. Many carpet manufacturers recommend professional HWE because it is more effective, provides a deeper cleaning compared to other methods and results in less wear on the carpeting. GCS uses the most modern and efficient HWE equipment available with results in cleaner carpets and faster drying times.
- Dry Cleaning: dry carpet cleaning systems (also known as very low moisture systems) require specialized machinery which rely mostly on dry compounds to get the job done. Heavily soiled areas would require the application of various cleaning solutions such as pretreatments, preconditioners and/or detergents or emulsifiers (traffic-lane cleaners). Dry carpet cleaning is generally more expensive and time consuming than other methods.
- Dry Compound: a mostly biodegradable, slightly moist absorbent cleaning compound is spread onto and brushed into carpeting then vacuumed up. Dry compound carpet cleaning does not generally remove all residues and will leave behind allergens and biological compounds.
- Encapsulation: involves the use of polymers that encapsulate soil particles into dry residues - attaching to oily soil particles and suspending them so they are easier to be rinsed away. Unfortunately, any of the encapsulated soils that do not get fully rinsed away remain in the fiber of the carpet - attracting soil and dirt and causing the carpeting to degenerate.
- Shampoo: carpet shampoo cleaning involve the use of shampoos that can be foamy and/or sticky.
